According to data from Bloomberg, tech entrepreneur Elon Musk lost his status as a trillionaire on Tuesday, less than two weeks after becoming the first person to do so after SpaceX's public debut.
His fortune was valued at $957 billion (£727 billion) on Tuesday by the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, which is updated every day at 17:30 in New York (22:30 BST). This is a decrease from the $1.11 trillion valuation less than 14 days prior.
The reversal came after shares of SpaceX and Tesla sharply declined as technology stocks generally plummeted due to mounting scepticism about the long-term viability of AI.
Musk continues to be the richest person in the world despite the setback, and his wealth continues to surpass that of his closest competitors.
Remarkably, the billionaire first created history on June 12 when his rocket company, SpaceX, made its eagerly awaited public market debut on the Nasdaq exchange.
The successful initial public offering (IPO) started trading at $150 after starting at $135 per share.
Besides, the rocket and satellite giant was valued at over $1.77 trillion at the launch. Due to Musk's ownership of about 42% of SpaceX, the listing immediately caused his paper wealth to surpass $1 trillion.
Musk's total net worth reached a peak of $1.32 trillion on June 16th, when SpaceX shares reached a peak of $225.64 due to a surge in investor enthusiasm.
The market rally, however, was short-lived.

High-flying tech giants like Nvidia, Intel, and AMD were particularly hard hit by the widespread tech sell-off caused by worries about capital spending, artificial intelligence infrastructure costs, and unyielding interest rates.
However, SpaceX shares took the brunt of the correction, falling more than 30% from their peak in mid-June to trade at about $156.
An estimated $240 billion was removed from Musk's personal balance sheet on a single, turbulent Monday, June 22, due to a 16% single-day decline.
Simultaneously, just one day later, shares of his electric car company, Tesla, fell by almost 6%, exacerbating the financial harm. About 12% of Tesla's outstanding shares were owned by Musk.
Musk's trillionaire status is particularly vulnerable because of how concentrated his wealth is. His wealth is almost entirely dependent on stock in just two companies: SpaceX, which accounts for nearly 80% of his total net worth, and Tesla, in contrast to conventional billionaires who have diverse portfolios.
Although the magnitude of the movement indicates a deeper struggle between hype and reality, market analysts point out that post-IPO volatility is completely normal for highly valued growth firms.
Danni Hewson, the head of financial analysis at AJ Bell Corporation, stated: "For a stock like SpaceX, a lot of decision-making might have been emotional and based on the anticipation of huge leaps forward in space exploration and utilisation, but investing should be something treated with clear eyes and patience, even when such huge numbers are involved."
Further, market pressure may persist after restrictions are lifted in late July, allowing company insiders to eventually sell their shares in phases.
However, Musk might easily become the first recurring trillionaire in history if SpaceX stock were to rise by just 6%, returning him to his 13-figure status.
