Preparing Accurate Group Accounts and Applying Investment Accounting with Confidence

Consolidated financial reporting can become highly complex when organisations operate through subsidiaries, associates, joint arrangements, foreign operations, and layered ownership structures. Accurate group reporting requires a clear understanding of control, acquisition accounting, intra-group eliminations, goodwill, non-controlling interests, and the appropriate accounting treatment for different investments.

The Financial Statements Consolidation and Investment Accounting course provides participants with a practical framework for preparing consolidated financial statements and accounting for investments under relevant IFRS or GAAP principles. Across five days, participants work through subsidiary consolidation, advanced group structures, associates, joint ventures, financial instruments, foreign currency translation, deferred tax, and disclosure requirements.

The programme combines technical guidance with applied exercises to help participants strengthen consolidation accuracy, improve reporting controls, and interpret group financial performance more effectively.

You'll Learn How To

  • Explain the purpose and principles of consolidated financial statements.
  • Distinguish legal group structures from accounting group structures.
  • Identify subsidiaries, associates, joint ventures, and joint operations.
  • Determine the appropriate consolidation or investment accounting method.
