STCW Basic Safety for Seafarers Course in Kuala Lumpur

Building the Safety Awareness Every Seafarer Needs

Working at sea means operating in an environment where emergencies can develop quickly and every crew member has a role to play. Fire, medical incidents, abandonment, security threats, fatigue, and onboard hazards all require clear procedures, calm decision-making, and a shared understanding of safety responsibilities.

The STCW Basic Safety Training for Seafarers training course provides a structured introduction to the core safety knowledge expected of personnel working onboard ships. Across five days, participants explore personal survival, fire prevention and firefighting, elementary first aid, personal safety and social responsibility, and maritime security awareness.

The programme combines essential theory with practical awareness of shipboard procedures, helping participants understand how to respond appropriately to common onboard emergencies and contribute to a safer, more disciplined maritime working environment.
