Steel structures combine strength, flexibility, and construction efficiency, making structural steel a fundamental material for buildings and infrastructure projects. Effective steel design, however, requires engineers to understand how structural systems behave under different loading conditions and how forces are transferred safely through members, connections, and supporting systems.
The Introduction to Steel Structures, Analysis and Design course provides participants with a practical foundation in the behaviour, analysis, and design of steel structural systems. Across five days, participants explore structural steel properties, loading and load paths, structural analysis, member design, connections, stability, fabrication, and constructability considerations.
The programme connects engineering principles with practical design situations. Through calculations, exercises, and a final workshop, participants develop a structured approach to analysing steel structures, selecting and checking structural members, understanding connection behaviour, and considering how design decisions influence fabrication, erection, durability, and overall structural performance.
